Our services along the value chain
The individualization and emotionalization of materials and surfaces as well as their realization with efficient use of resources – these issues concern the material experts at imat-uve. The design introduces ideas and inspiration. However, the technical feasibility comes into focus from the outset through close collaboration between designers and developers. Superior and sustainable designs are created in this way through mutual exchange.
The need for cost optimization and sustainability raises questions regarding material and surfaces not just in the automotive industry. How do you strike a balance between the cost and value of materials? How can you substitute materials without changing the necessary properties? How do end customers actually perceive quality? imat-uve focuses on individual solutions to all of these questions with its development services that are closely linked to design.
If questions are resolved in design and development and a concept is developed, the idea becomes a reality in engineering. Prototypes for components and surfaces are created using state-of-the-art media, such as CAD programs and 3D printing. The potential and challenges for the future series production are evaluated through simulation and modelling. A close link between design and development ensures that adjustments can be made to concepts at any stage.
The link between the library and the materials’ technical performance data is imat-uve's unique selling point. A material database has been created from many years of experience in material and component testing, which can be used to link advancements or innovations to conventional materials. A variety of standard and special tests for the respective category (textile, plastic, wood etc.) are performed in the in-house testing facilities to safeguard and qualify a material for demanding conditions, such as for the automotive industry.
