Workshop about emissions and odor regarding VIAQ in Shanghai

The fourth annual workshop "Emissions and odor of plastics" will take place in Shanghai (China) on July 20 -21, 2017. For the two-day workshop, imat-uve and its Chinese subsidiary Shanghai imat has invited internationally approved experts. They will give the participants an overview of the current status and innovations in validation methods and low emission parts. The participants will also receive information on the legal and technical regulations for car interior.

An overview of the topics:

On the first day of the seminar Dr. Michael Holzwarth (imat-uve) will provide an introduction into current emission, odor and test methods. Yunyun Nie (Gerstel) will report on the subject of sample temperature validation for improved accuracy of the material emission test. Ella Zhang (Faurecia) will then give an insight into VOC research. In the afternoon Dr. Rui Li (Markes international) will present the current regulations for air quality in the vehicle interior and the associated global standard methods and explain how these are to be met. Dr. Nathalie Nibbe from Olfasense talks about the optimization of test methods and the training of auditors in odor tests. At the end of the first workshop day, Junxian Li (BAIC Motors) is concerned with the progress of the measurement of interior air. After that Dr. Hans Peter Schlegelmilch (imat-uve) will give an insight into the development of an innovative EEG method for olfactory tests and further on he will show the results of a survey regarding people’s preferences for scents.

The second workshop day begins with a lecture on improvements for real-time VOC measurements by Yan Li (Syft) in cooperation with Dr. Michael Holzwarth (imat-uve). BMW's Xueni Qin will provide an insight into the automotive air quality requirements, while Dr. Roland Freudemann (Benecke Hornschuh Surface Group) presents low-emission materials for automotive interior surfaces that meet the requirements of the Chinese GB 27630. At the end of the workshop, Li Feng will take a look at the smell and emission strategies of SAIC Volkswagen.
