Day 2 of the workshop “Emissions and odor of plastics” in Shanghai
From 20th to 21st July, at the workshop "Emissions and odor of plastics" in Shanghai, attendees from the automotive and supplier industry in Shanghai were given an overview of current developments in test procedures and low-emission components as well as the legal and technical requirements for the vehicle interior.
After the first seminar day focused mainly on the procedures for measuring indoor emissions and the legal regulations, the second day looked upon innovations in processes and products as well as on OEM strategies.
Yan Li from Syft Technologies, the manufacturer of Sift-MS instruments, began the second seminar day with a lecture on new developments in real-time VOC measurements in cooperation with Dr. Michael Holzwarth (imat-uve). BMW China Services provided an insight into the requirements for the car interior of BMW, while Dr. Roland Freudemann and Jim Gu from Benecke Hornschuch Surface Group presented low-emission materials for automotive interior surfaces that meet the requirements of the upcoming Chinese GB 27630. The workshop concluded with Li Feng, who gave an insight into the smell and emission strategies of SAIC Volkswagen. The German, China-based Thomas Derksen (also known as AFU), provided entertainment by comically explaining the differences between Germans and Chinese people regarding cars.
