imat-uve supports nanotechnology citizens' discussion with an expert
According to the motto „Nanotechnology - opportunities, risks, perspectives" another edition of the interactive dialogue session "Citizens meet experts" on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will be hold on the 20th September 2016 in Mönchengladbach (Germany). The highly topical and much discussed subject should be highlighted here from different perspectives. Nanotechnologies make important contributions to major societal challenges - such as energy supply, health and environmental protection. They open new perspectives for education, research and industry in Germany.
But what does the STAR TREK have to do with nanotechnology? Will there sometime be space lifts? What does nanoparticles make in smartphones, sunscreen or sports socks - and is this not dangerous? Experts from research and industry come together in Mönchengladbach and face exactly those questions of students and other interested citizens.
The event, moderated by Ralf Jüngermann (Rheinische Post), starts after a brief introduction to the subject with an entertaining lecture on "Physics and Nanotechnology at STAR TREK" by Prof. Dr. Metin Tolan (TU Dortmund University).
Following, experts discussing questions asked by the citizens: In addition to three other experts Dr. Hans Peter Schlegelmilch, CEO of imat-uve gmbh, will also contribute his knowledge and will be available for exchange as a regional partner.
The event is open to all interested citizens. The participation is free. The venue is the Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Gymnasium Mönchengladbach.
