Improving air quality in the car

On the second day of the "Emissions and Odor (VIAQ)" conference in Shanghai, participants intensively discussed the possibilities for analyzing and reducing emissions in the vehicle interior. The focus was on the presentation of strategies, test methods and equipment, such as the SIFT-MS, which Yunyun Nie von Gerstel presented.

Björn Maxeiner from Olfasense gave an overview of interlaboratory tests for the test standards VDA 278, ISO 12219 and VDA 270. Andreas Dörner from KRAIBURG TPE GmbH & Co. KG reported on his company's developments regarding the emission behavior of TPS materials. Afterwards, imat-uve CEO Hans Peter Schlegelmilch took the emission behavior of materials as an opportunity to introduce participants to a new approach to standardizing odor and emission tests using standard material developed by imat-uve.

At the end of the two-day conference, Jackie Huang first spoke about a study conducted by the JAC Motors Technical Center on VOC emission characteristics in vehicles and gave an outlook on future developments.Thereafter, Bo Hong talked about the global requirements for improving the indoor air quality of BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) vehicles.
