It’s all about sustainable and smart textiles

The international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens has already attracted many visitors on the first day. Exhibitors from all over the world are presenting advancements from the field of textile production and textile processing. At booth H39 in Hall 3.0 imat-uve is showcasing a selection of trendsetting materials from its own material library, which is a selection of innovative, smart textiles and other materials. Customers can benefit from it because current trends and product research can be carried out conveniently from a central location so they won’t have to invest a lot of time and effort into research. imat-uve preselects the materials and curates them regarding applications for automotive or even for other technical fields of application. This way design and development projects for the car interior can be created in collaboration with the customers.

Visitors of the imat-uve booth can discover various materials via touch application.

Kobleder, Trevira and imat-uve are partners in the development of 3D flat knit components.

The innovative 3D flat knitting process offers a high-grade solution for highly strained knitting components, such as car seat covers and decorative parts. The sustainability concept is supported by a zero-waste concept and the use of recycled yarns.

Yarn production from recycled blended fiber material

Under the leadership of imat-uve, an international consortium is working on the development of a process for the mechanical recycling and spinning of old textiles from blended fiber materials. This will allow textile waste to be integrated into an upcycling process according to industrial standards and into a sensible recycling economy with C2C principles. Apart from imat-uve, the consortium consists of the partners Trützschler, FBBasic, Stichting Texperium and C2C ExpoLab. The project is financially supported by the European Union within the INTERREG program Germany-Netherlands.
