Getting rid of unpleasant smells and toxic emissions
On April 26, imat again hosted a workshop about emissions and odor in the vehicle (VIAQ). Its purpose was to overview what the sources of odor and emissions are, how to identify substances, and how to reduce emissions and odor in the car interior.
Seven expert presentations provided information about current topics and discussions, in terms of test methods, standardization and global strategies.
Mark Polster (Ford Motor Company) and Werner Feil (Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC) reported on VIAQ strategies, international standards and approval processes. Kurt Thaxton (GERSTEL), Christopher Nones (syft technologies), and Nicola Watson (Markes International) provided insights into instrument innovations. imat’s emissions expert Dr. Michael Holzwarth introduced basic test methods and procedures for indoor emissions and odor.
